About us

Lino & Araújo was founded in 1926, making it one of the oldest manufacturers of the original handmade Madeira Embroidery. It was acquired in 1994 by Abreu & Araújo, a family owned and operated manufacturer of Madeira Embroidery, itself founded in 1978.

Our commitment to Madeira Embroidery and to the heritage of the beautiful Island of Madeira is as strong as when we started decades ago. Each piece of Madeira Embroidery carries with it the centuries old history and traditional features that made it internationally known and sought after almost two centuries ago. We're proud and honored to continue this tradition for generations and centuries to come. We believe life is better lived with Madeira Embroidery, it makes special occasions even more special.
